For the optimum performance of Jetstream DR below are the tested limits

📘 Components and their Recommended Limit

  1. Maximum Protected VM virtual disks per DRVA (vdisk/DRVA) → 500

  2. Maximum VMs per Protection Domain (VM/Domain) → 50

  3. Maximum virtual disks per Protected VM (vdisk/VM) → 16

  4. Maximum Protected Domains per DRVA (Domain/DRVA) → 8

  5. Maximum Replication Log volumes per DRVA (RL/DRVA) → 4

  6. Maximum number of DRVA be equivalent to the number of hosts (there can be exceptions if the number of protected VMs grows)

JetStream DR does not check for these limits when Protected Domains or DR Virtual Appliance (DRVA) settings are being changed. If these limits are exceeded, results can be unpredictable.

📋 RL Configuration formula

This formula has to be used to configure the RL volume manually.
If using CPT tool it will recommend the configurations no need to manually calculate.

Replication log volume [ RLV ] calculation: 3.3% of protected data + 64GB per Protected Domain +10% of RLV as "reserve space"

For example
If Protected VM Data = 1TB
Protected Domain =2

RL size = 33GB + (64*2)GB +16.1GB = 177.1 GB

If you intend to Protect an additional 1TB of data, it is advisable to create a new Replication log volume, as expanding an existing RL beyond its free space is not supported.
